A Bespoke Skills Workshop With More Creative Presentation Delivery As The Focus

The Challenge

IBM had attended a number of event-based ‘speaker coaching’ exercises, so required UKSV to develop a ‘speaker coaching and creative thinking’ session. This was to be introduced during team meetings in IBM offices around the UK.

The Solution

With the increasing popularity of TedX programs and presentations (short 20 minute maximum slots with the focus on storytelling), we developed workshops with this style in mind. The 2-hour workshops focused on core presentation skills and examples of day-to-day ‘quick wins’. Any speaker coaches could use these to improve their technique and be prepared for any face-to-face presentation opportunity.

The event didn’t focus on a main presentation – and was decidedly hands-on. This included a session with the group split into teams. Teams were given the task of delivering a compelling presentation, on a relevant topic, to a friendly external adjudicator.

UKSV set up a camera recording the live ‘pitch’, to then allow the group to critique and review every presentation with their teams.

The client feedback on the event was very positive – a number of different industry sectors within IBM have expressed an interest in having their own tailored coaching sessions.
