The makeover of all makeovers! From an Indoor Athletics Centre to stylish graduation venue in just 5 days.
The Challenge
Brunel University has traditionally hosted its summer graduation ceremonies on campus as a way of celebrating the achievements of the students in the environment where they excelled. However, with approximately 12,000 students and guests passing through the ceremonies in a week, there is only one location big enough to accommodate the sessions on-site - the Indoor Athletics Centre. The space needs to be fully converted to a suitable graduation space and back again in less than 14 days all the while ensuring the running track is kept in pristine condition.
The Solution
Having refined the solution across a number of years, our team have an hour by hour schedule drawn up covering the build week, show days and weekend derig to ensure we can hand the site back to the University as they left it with in the space of 14 days. The build includes the supply of the bespoke stage and flown screen structure, drape to enclose the space and cut out the blaring sunlight through the curved venue roof, carpeting of the entire venue, tiered seating for 1600 people, all AV including flown truss for projection, lighting and sound to be hung from, external power and a bespoke air conditioning system to ensure the attendees stay cool even on the hottest of days.
We also provide registration desks and venue branding as well as live camera relay of each session to the University's hosted video channel.
